IC&RC issues a Prevention Specialist Candidate Guide. The guide explains the exam, offering sample questions and providing a list of reference materials for preparing for this important test. You can download the most up to date version of the guide here: Candidate Guide for the IC&RC Prevention Specialist Examination. Additional details about exam preparation, can be found here: IC&RC Exam Preparation.

Upon registration and receipt of payment for exam, you will be contacted to select a date and exam testing location. IC&RC computer based testing (CBT) format is conducted at designated test sites (in NH and neighboring states). Computer-based testing can be scheduled at your convenience throughout the year. Once you submit an exam application, we will contact you and register you for the exam, at which time you will select a test site location and the date/time based on hours of operation at the testing location.

You can download the CPS Application from our documents and certifications pages and send it with your registration fee to the Prevention Certification Board of NH at 501 South Street, 2nd Floor, Bow, NH, 03304. Payment MUST accompany the registration form in order for your registration for the exam to be valid. A test will not be ordered until payment is received. You may also submit your application up to six months after you test for the exam for the credential. Please see the complete manual for all requirements, also found on the documents page of this website.

Once the test is passed and all of your documentation is submitted, the Peer Review Committee will review your entire application for approval.  If approved, a certificate will be mailed to you from the Prevention Certification Board of NH, which will represent your credential from NH authorized by IC&RC. Beginning July 1, 2012, there are no longer two certificates being issued due to changes at IC&RC. Your credential number associated with your IC&RC approval is not on this certificate but is on record at IC&RC, not in NH.

Should you like to request an official written verification or a specific IC&RC certificate (which does list your credential number), a CPS can do so directly from IC&RC at a cost of between $10 and $25 depending on what you order. An “unofficial” e-mail verification is free. A verification on their letterhead is $10 and an actual certificate is $25. All of this can be obtained by calling IC&RC at (717)540-4457. The order form for an actual certificate can be downloaded here: Intl Cert Form
